Occlusion is considered complex, difficult and controversial. We approach occlusion from a clinical perspective and will simplify the subject by asking one fundamental question: do we record the existing intercuspation, or the desired mandibular position (centric relation)? The answers to these questions clarify and simplify any clinical situation. While some prior knowledge of the main rules of occlusion is needed, this course will guide the clinician and technician through how to record and use an intersupation and a centric relation occlusal record digitally. As an example, we will present a completely digital occlusal splint, from impressions and occlusal record, to design and manufacturing. When a splint design is understood and applied this way, the predictability of the treatment and profitability of the practice are increased. The participants will take part in several case studies and practice the scan, bite record and design, in small groups.
